Two Weeks Later...November 11, 2013
I had been taking the following medications in the prescribed doses below for about five years when I went to see my doctor on October 17, 2013, about the side effects I was having.
2 1200 mg of Omega 3 fish oil capsules
1 baby aspirin (81 mg)
2 Carvedilol tablets (6.25 mg ea)
1 Amlodipine tablet (10 mg)
1 Pravastatin tablet (20 mg)
He told me to cut the Carvedilol in half for two weeks and then stop it altogether. Because he was skeptical, he handed me another prescription for Losartan. He wanted me to start swallowing that the moment my blood pressure ascended over 140.
I had my first appointment with a Naturopath on October 28. In my first meeting with her, she advised me to stop taking the fish oil. She also counseled me follow an entirely different regimen for food consumption that was presented in an educational lesson she gave me in her office and later when I watched the film "Forks Over Knives" that I found on Netflix. Before I left, she said that she wanted to see my blood pressure levels ultimately and ideally between 110 and 120. I knew that wouldn't happen. In fact, I wasn't sure that dropping all these medications was either a good idea or that it would even work. But after watching Forks Over Knives, my wife and I committed to what we had learned.
I met with Dr. C, the Naturopath, again on November 11, two weeks after my first appointment. Below are the results of following her dietary prescription after just two weeks.
As a result of the blood pressure readings below, my NaturoPath told me to stop taking Pravastatin and the aspirin. She said the aspirin was for "the other people." She wanted me to start cutting the Amlodipine in half on a daily basis. The amazing thing is that I had reached this point in just 2 weeks. 2 WEEKS. Up until now, I had been walking all over America like Johnny Appleseed and going to the gym lifting weights like Haystack Calhoun for the last few years. Do you know what all that has done for me as to lowering BP and losing weight? NOTHING. Not one thing. But what I have done in 2 weeks after watching that film and listening to the Naturopath's recommendations has worked. IT HAS WORKED.
I have been told by every doctor I have ever seen that I would be on these medications for the rest of my life. The studies referenced in Forks Over Knives say that the effects of cardio-vascular disease, which is what all of us have if we live in America, CAN ACTUALLY BE REVERSED SO THAT HEART DISEASE, DIABETES, AND MOST CANCERS AREN'T EVEN AN ISSUE! That is truly an amazing statement. But if you can see the film, it is all in there.
Now, one more unexpected alarm and surprise from this. We started taking my wife's BP on October 29. She has never been on any medication. Nor has she seen a doctor for ten years or more. It scared the crap out of us when her BP was pretty consistently up in the mid to upper 160s, sometimes the 170s. That is something to be very concerned about. I thought of taking her to the doctor that moment. But she has been doing what I have been doing, and NOW she is pretty consistently in the 140s and 130s. 2 WEEKS. Our Naturopath says it will continue to drop like an anchor.
