Scouting The West…And Miles To Go Before I Sleep
“...as I looked up into Yellowstone while coming in to the mountainous north entrance, it was pitch black. I knew there was a black mountain looking down on those who approached it, but I saw nothing. Nothing. No hint of light or friendliness of any kind. It was like Frodo Baggins approaching Mordor in Lord of the Rings…”
This section is about various adventures I have made on the many bikes I have owned. I have been coast to coast and border to border. But my favorite place to roam is in the Western United States. Just draw a line from San Antonio, Texas, straight north through Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Everything west of that line is my territory. If you start in Nebraska, the line begins in Kearney. If you begin in South Dakota, the line commences with the Missouri River as it splits that state in two. It is when it starts to get solitary and I see civilization in my wake that my mind sees the historical ghosts of the West that I love. I have stored some of it here for you.
