I Am Going To Die Healthy
If you have never done so, do for yourself what will probably be the second best thing you can do in your entire life. See the film "Forks Over Knives." You can find it on NetFlix. That film explains this section.
Update To 1st Appointment and Followup With My Naturopath After 2 Weeks
I had been taking the following medications in the prescribed doses below for about five years when I went to see my doctor on October 17, 2013, about the side effects I was having.
2 1200 mg of Omega 3 fish oil capsules
1 baby aspirin (81 mg)
2 Carvedilol tablets (6.25 mg ea)
1 Amlodipine tablet (10 mg)
1 Pravastatin tablet (20 mg)
He told me to cut the Carvedilol in half for two weeks and then stop it altogether. Because he was skeptical, he handed me another prescription for Losartan. He wanted me to start swallowing that the moment my blood pressure ascended over 140.
I had my first appointment with a Naturopath on October 28. In my first meeting with her, she advised me to stop taking the fish oil. She also counseled me to follow an entirely different regimen for food consumption that was presented in an educational lesson she gave me in her office and later when I watched the film "Forks Over Knives" that I found on Netflix. Before I left, she said that she wanted to see my blood pressure levels ultimately and ideally between 110 and 120. I knew that wouldn't happen. After watching the film, my wife and I committed to what we had learned from both her and the documentary film.
I met with the Naturopath again on November 11, two weeks later. Below are the results of following her prescription after just two weeks. You will see my blood pressure readings from October 17 - November 13.
As a result of the blood pressure readings below, my NaturoPath told me today to stop taking Pravastatin and the aspirin. She wanted me to start cutting the Amlodipine in half on a daily basis. I should be done with that in a couple of weeks if the BP stays stable. That would mean THE END TO ALL MEDICATIONS. DONE. OVER. FINISHED. The amazing thing is that I have reached this point in about 2 weeks. 2 WEEKS. Up until now, I have been walking all over America like Johnny Appleseed and going to the gym lifting weights like Haystack Calhoun for the last few years. Do you know what all that has done for me as to lowering BP and losing weight? NOTHING. Not one thing. But what I have done in 2 weeks after watching that film and listening to the Naturopath's recommendations has worked. IT HAS WORKED.
I have been told by every doctor I have ever seen that I would be on these medications for the rest of my life. The studies referenced in "Forks Over Knives" say that the effects of cardio-vascular disease, which is what all of us have if we live in America, CAN ACTUALLY BE REVERSED SO THAT HEART DISEASE, DIABETES, AND MOST CANCERS AREN'T EVEN AN ISSUE! That is truly an amazing statement. But if you can see the film, it is all in there.
Now, one more unexpected alarm and surprise from this. We started taking my wife's BP on October 29. She has never been on any medication. Nor has she seen a doctor for ten years or more. It scared the crap out of us when her BP was pretty consistently up in the mid to upper 160s, sometimes the 170s. That is something to be very concerned about. I thought of taking her to the doctor that moment. But she has been doing what I have been doing, and NOW she is pretty consistently in the 140s and 130s! 2 WEEKS. Our Naturopath says it will continue to drop like an anchor.
Anyway, I have to have lab work in a couple of weeks and see a regular AMA doctor for Medicare purposes to evaluate the results. I will keep this post up to date.

Appt with my cardiologist on 11-25-2013
Today I had an appointment with my regular cardiologist to evaluate my lab tests on 11/20/13.
First, he was astounded by my numbers on all tests, all of which fell into normal ranges. The result was that he told me to stop taking Amlodipine. So I took the last 1/2 pill of that stuff last night. Secondly, my weight was down to 191 pounds. That means that I have lost 15 pounds in 3 WEEKS.
My Cholesterol was 158; Triglycerides, 79; HDL, 41: LDL, 101.
I am from Kentucky where gravy is a beverage. After having been addicted to a Western diet for 67 years, it is hard to believe that I have stayed on this program even for this short time. I have avoided dairy (which includes cheese, yogurt, butter, milk) No oils. No eggs. Anything that has a face or a mother (including poultry and fish). Almost no salt or sugar. I eat all the vegetables, fruits, whole and unprocessed foods that I can. And tons of beans. Beans, I said. In fact, I went down to Costco tonight and bought a 25 lb bag of pinto beans. Now that you know all this, just in case we ever meet someday, there is one thing of which you always want to be aware. Be sure to note where you are standing in relation to where I am standing. A good place would be either in front of me or upwind. But whatever you do, don't walk behind me with a lit candle.
